Of course the main reason why people travel to Virginia Beach is for the fantastic coastline along the Chesapeake Bay, but there are also a number of other fantastic attractions in and around the city that make it such a great destination for a holiday or short break. The rich cultural scene in the city means that there are always things going on for tourists of all tastes to enjoy, while the range of things to see and do ranges from art galleries and museums through to theme parks, so no matter what your interests are, there are plenty of things that will keep you busy during your stay.

During the summer months, the beaches close to Virginia Beach are amongst the busiest in the region, and are sandy, with well protected coastline areas where you can rest and sunbathe on hot days, or just walk and enjoy the scenery when the weather is not as good.

The boardwalk along the seafront in Virginia Beach is one of the main attractions where you can rent a bike and cycle along to take in the sights. There are a number of small booths along the seafront boardwalk, and you will regularly see painters and artists doing their best to capture the scene.

One of the most famous attractions in Virginia Beach is the Mount Trashmore Park. This area of land was once a rubbish dump, but has been completely transformed and landscaped to become one of the prettiest parts of the city, and a great place to go on a hot day if you want to explore the area.

Seatack is an area of the coastal resort of Virginia Beach that is known as one of the most exciting areas for visitors to explore. Seatack was one of the first areas of the resort of Virginia Beach to open, and has subsequently developed into a fairly bohemian community with plenty going on throughout the day and night.

Thanks to its rich history from the beginning of the USA, Virginia Beach has many richly important buildings and sights including the home of the United States Lifesaving service - which became the Coastguard, and the home of a number of different historic houses including those of Adam Keeling and Adam Thoroughgood.
